- What is Border Crossing?
- To strengthen border security, while encouraging trade with Canada and Mexico, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency has enhanced its regulations for monitoring truck crossings at its land-border ports. Innovative's new Border Crossing module lets users efficiently and accurately conform to these regulations. This module provides the tools to meet the new federal mandates with confidence and competence, while working within the familiar IES structure.
- Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) and eManifests
- ACE is the CBP's new border processing technology, which relies on the carrier electronically submitting manifests (eManifests) for trips into the U.S. The CBP will make eManifests mandatory on a port-by-port basis beginning on January 25, 2007.
eManifest Components:
- Crew Identification
- Driver
- Passenger
- Description of Conveyance
- Tractor
- Description of Equipment
- Trailer
- Shipment Details
- Cargo
- Shipper and Origination
- Consignee and Destination
- ACE Certification and Border Crossing Vendors
- As the provider of Border Crossing software, Innovative has obtained the necessary ACE certification and contracted with ACE-certified vendors for processing eManifests through the CBP. Innovative's available eManifest data processing vendor is: Kleinschmidt
Innovative also recommends that all carriers who cross into the U.S. be ACE-certified. The process for obtaining the necessary ACE certification is explained in detail at www.cbp.gov/modernization.
