NEW IES AWARE™ SAFETY ALERT TOOL Brentwood, Tennessee — March 25, 2008 We are pleased to announce the addition of the new safety alert tool, IES Aware, for use with the Operations module of IES®.Designed to assist carriers in interpreting and managing previously captured information indicative of driver fatigue and to assist in monitoring compliance, Aware uses information found within Innovative's transportation management system and IES®, to automatically detect driving events that may be indicative of fatigue or non-compliance. By collecting information from various internal sources such as check calls and integrated applications such as mobile communications, Aware automatically and instantaneously alerts driver managers when a driver's movement exceeds defined parameters designed to identify situations in which driver fatigue may exist. Focused on the safety of drivers and the public, Innovative President Ernie Betancourt states that "This application will be one of the most important that Innovative has offered to the industry. Going beyond software, we are proud of the potential effect this module will offer carriers working to manage the safety of their drivers and the public. Innovative customers using Aware also have the potential to avoid costly litigation and improve industry perception nationwide. It's truly an Innovative solution to a critical industry need." Available as a new module for IES customer Operations departments, this new monitoring system allows the user to monitor a driver's movement, looking for any defined driving events that exceed established parameters, including: driving over 14 hours within a 24 hour period, excessive speed, excessive continuous driving, and driving during hours when the driver may be fatigued. The system also monitors contacts from the driver and alerts the carrier if the driver has remained out of contact for more than 24 hours. Aware provides driver managers with near real time alerts if a driver's movement exceeds any of the defined parameters. The managers then have 15 minutes to act on the exception before the alert is escalated to the carrier's operations manager and safety manager. Notification continues until the manager responds to the alert and recurs as long as the driver's movement exceeds the established parameters. The system also requires that the resolution of the exception be documented. Managers have instant access to a list of the drivers and the exceptions to the defined parameters. This information, in addition to details of the exception, includes critical data such as driver, order number, unit, date and time. Driver managers may use the alert screen to manage events and drivers and also record information related to contacting the driver or other resolutions of the exception. Aware can be formatted to automatically email exception reports to a carrier's safety managers for review. These reports can be used to assist in the management of driver fatigue and aid in gathering information to score and educate driver managers.
